Kath Explores Corel Painter 10 !

Exploring Corel Painter 10
According to Wikki, "Corel Painter is a raster-based digital art application created to simulate as accurately as possible the appearance and behavior of traditional media associated with drawing, painting, and printmaking."

I like this thought: "It is intended to be used in real-time by professional digital artists as a functional creative tool."

My computer savvy son (age 19), Craig was exploring Painter 10 yesterday and taught me some new tricks.

The Key to success:
Apparently the more you "play" with this software tool (without getting frustrated but with patience) you can learn more and more. It is like a never ending color doodle pad! Recently, I am spent time in the "oils" and using the oily blender tool. Deep breathing....ohmmmmm! Relax and Explore not expect the Mona Lisa on the first try.
My Background or What I Bring to the Party:
To be fair I will say as part of my computer graphics certification, I learned an early version of Painter at college. I bought it when it came in a paint can and owned the software. But I never totally "got it" in a way I wanted to know it ~ intuitively. In 2008 I bought Painter 10, I have a demo CD from my brother Louis. I watched most of the CD which totally convinced me to spend the $2,000 plus for the Cinq color pad. I was jazzed to "crack the code" so I went to the bookstore and bought a Painter book. The book I have browsed the book but what really works is using it.
That is how I became one with Photoshop. lol It reminds me of what Scott Lopert said about doing the Photoshop montage self challenge. Do it every night for an hour. *See below for description.

*The Photoshop challenge is for you to take two completely random photos and merging/blending them realistically into an interesting photo montage. More on that later.
